Bring Your Own Device: iPad Prgram
Embracing the iPad as a tool for learning opens up a whole new world of engagement, personalised learning and collaboration for the students of Riverbend Primary School. The iPad promotes student learning in contemporary and creative ways and this potential is maximised when every student has direct access to their very own device. To help us achieve this, we are introducing a BYOD: iPad program in 2021 with the aim to firmly embed within the Riverbend Learning and Teaching framework. This involves where possible, all students in Years P-6 bringing and using their own iPad device for daily classroom use.
At Riverbend Primary School, we believe that blending traditional teaching methods with contemporary approaches greatly benefits our students. This means that we teach our students current technology skills within the context of learning. Therefore, along with being literate and numerate, our students will graduate from Riverbend Primary School with proficiencies to problem solve, communicate, collaborate, think critically and be creative.
We enforce high expectations on the use and management of the iPad. All students are ‘trained’ to manage their iPad; readily learning the high expectations and rules of the BYOD: iPad program. The iPad is stored in a central location throughout the day and will be accessed only by your child. Please note the iPad is ultimately the responsibility of your child.
Your involvement in the BYOD: iPad program is greatly appreciated. However, we understand the financial commitment to be undertaken by families and do not want any students to be disadvantaged. If you have any concerns about providing an iPad for your child we urge that you make contact with us.\
We recommend the following for student iPads to ensure usability of apps that are required for learning:
