At Riverbend Primary School, our mathematics program, developed through research into Science of Learning and Rosenshine's principles of instruction, uses evidence-based teaching practices that support students to learn, understand and apply mathematical concepts effectively. Across our school, we use Ochre Education mathematics lessons to provide a structured, consistent and sequential approach to teaching mathematics. Teachers use explicit instruction, worked examples, opportunities for practice and regular revision to strengthen students' understanding and fluency. Students are encouraged to explain their thinking, solve problems and build confidence in mathematics through supportive and engaging learning experiences. Below you will find our Riverbend Primary School Mathematics Instructional Model, which encompasses the process of how we teach mathematics.
